just to clarify my thoughts if possible
the injectors are mechanical, right. and fed from the mechanical pump as its driven off the Cambelt. but the pump is electronically controlled rather than mechanically adjustable ( thinking the old bosch ze).
if I'm right so far then.
are the stock injectors anywhere near capacity from what the pump can feed.
would new injectors (stock) give a return on performance
would upgraded ( being mechanical i think this is maybe tenuous) give a bigger return on performance.
can the ecu be re written to adjust the pump and the stock injectors cope.
albeit that I'm mechanically competent a motor mechanic I'm certainly not.
I'm just feeding my curiosity as to how I could maybe get a bit more oomph out of the old 4d56t and wondering where the limitations are.
I'm of the understanding that the turbo, for example, is capable of doing more than is asked of it so upgrading that is ineffective and unnecessary
it s one of those things that ill probably never get around to doing but would be nice to know
sorry if its a bit long winded
and yes I fully expect that the best way to get more oomph is to put it in the bin and get a 6 cylinder something or other fitted ha ha
