P0182 low fuel temperature

Hi

I have searched and don't think this has already been covered on the forums but apologies if this is not the case.

I have a 2010 L200 Gen4 2.5 and keep getting P0182 low fuel temperature error code. Its a 4work so no excess electrical items on it. The error code does come and go. I think this is related to the temperature sensor on the back of the high pressure fuel pump (for the common rail). It started a couple of weeks after I had some issues and removed and had to reteach the SCV suction control valve for pressure error codes. These have not returned. I thought I had spilled fuel onto the fuel temp sensor but it looks dry and clean in the connector. The sensor resistance is in spec at 2 to 3 Kilo Ohm at 20degC. I have been trying to source a new sensor as it looks like it should be cheap and in case mine is intermittent, but it seems it is part of the pump, although it unscrews easily. Not sure what to try next as reluctant to start cutting and carving the loom looking for any fault there.

The orange light mainly comes on when idling - I presume using low fuel so it circulates in the pump and gets hot??

The fuel tank level gauge does not work well. Slow to come up and reads lower than actual at the bottom of the tank. I think I have read that there is a connector on top of the tank that rots out and did wonder if this might be dragging something down or totally unrelated.

Any help in getting to the bottom of this would be really appreciated

Thanks in advance

Mike

Is removing the EGR and using blank plates as easy as it sounds?
