Uprated stereo system and associated speakers.

Hello All,

Has anyone upgraded the existed In Car Entertainment in there L200 be it new speakers, extra speakers, new head unit, sub(!), etc etc

I quite fancy upgrading mine so thought I would see what everyone else has done. Im not interested in SatNav or DVD players or any other jiggery pokkery, just goold old fashioned upgrades for music

If anyone has any thoughts or pictures then post away!

TBL, pm blacknsilver, Mark had a speaker and sub upgrade done to his, sound wicked he says. check out what he had done, I fitted Lanzar 5 x 7 in all my doors from Werbung: <<here>> , at £29 per set, they go in with a bit of work, but sound great.

ive shoved a kenwood head unit in mine you need an adapter lead as mitzi wiring is none standard, add to that you cant use the multi change if you already have one

Hi TBL had my cobra alarm fitted and cos the door cards had to come off upgraded my speakers to Rockford Fosgate with tweeters fitted in top of doors,they sound brilliant with loads more bass not cheap tho already had a standard Alpine head unit in truck ...next job is to replace rear door speakers with more 5`5" fosgates

Does anyone know the speaker specifications? I fancy being boring and unoriginal and getting something to fit straight in if thats possible?

I think 6.5 inch speakers fit into the door with adapters. I know one person who made his own adapters from mdf. Was fairly easy and meant the speakers screwed in with no fuss

Whats the deal with after market head units for our trucks? I notice Treeboa says we do not have standard wiring? Where do you get the adaptor from and with that will any stereo fit?

Halfords will do the adapter for it or any Autoleads supplier. Saying that, mine had standard DIN cables in it.

Huh odd. Hey Lez was looking through the gallery -- thats some trick stuff you've done to your truck! What's the console you've got where the Tilt, battery and temp gauges normally are. What functions does it perform?

Yoda, ignore the twat, there is battery voltage, internal temp and external temp on the display, plus I fitted 4 switches ( orange strobes front and rear, outside and tub temp switch so the external temp can also tell me the tub temp, tub heater control (1 or 2 heaters) and a spare I havent found a use for yet, but will probably be my seat heater.

In answer to your next question, when I go diving the gear is soaking wet on the way home, so I can turn on the tub heaters and open the rear windows and get the gear drying whilst driving, also on the way I can warm me drysuit.

Bought two 200w ceramic heaters from ebay, £20 each run a large power supply into the tub, or a split charge battery and drive them from that via switched relays.

I changed the head unit to a single slot CD player. Think it came from an Evo. Cost about £30 from Ebay and plugged straight in.

I ditched the tape player and multi changer that came as standard.

I want a head unit with a 3.5mm jack so I can source music from my blackberry which has more music on it than an illegal download site!

Rich, any with an aux input or phono inputs can be adapted.

I have a pioneer headunit with an ipod interface in the glove box. Works brill but is quite old. may change to something that makes navigating through ipod menus a bit quicker

Mine is the standard OE stereo Lez. I think. Has no Aux input an no phono that Im aware of. ?

I think the majority of head units these days have a usb and/or a 3.5mm jack for that very function. I was looking through some today and everyone I looked at had at least one or the other, sometimes both.
