Considering Selling My L200

#1 by Northern Brewer , Sat Aug 24, 2013 6:37 pm

Havent been on here for some time but thought I'd post to get your collective thoughts.

I'm looking to replace my L200 with something newer to reduce the amount of corporation tax that we will have to pay next year.

Its a 2007 Elegance Automatc in silver. Fantastic condition with all the Elegance bits - hasent been messed about with. All on road miles since I've owned it (4 years).

49000 miles and dealer serviced in those 4 years (had a £700 service in June 2012 and £470 service this June)

Has Good Duellers all round - two have about 1000 miles on them and it has a truckman top fitted

Ive added a NavTV reversing camera system with Alpine camera that automatically displays in the sat nav screen when you reverse and Parrot blue tooth - other than that it is standard.

Two questions :

What sort of money should I expect as a p/x ?

and

I am happy to sell to a forum member for the p/x price if there is any interest

Also

If I move away from the L200 (I know - how could I !) I will have a set of alloy wheels with Cooper STT's up for grabs. They stand me at £250 for the rims and £525 for the tyres (have less than 1000 winter miles on them). I'd be open to offers on these

Do they do "Good Duellers"
Good luck with the sale, you can still be a member on here without your truck.

corporation tax avoidance? (not evasion, I know ) thats why I got mine - get a post ten plate, Northern - better than owt else out there (with the possible exception of the amarok, but that uber ££££££), and will salve your conscience you should get £8-£10k plus vat? - geographical limitations apply.

Good luck

Amarok is on the list but is silly money. That said, none are cheap when you add the nice bits to 'em. I'm looking at some of the pre-registered offers as there is some good money off

Hate to admit that I tested the N word and it drove really well

Will have to try a post 10 model. One chap I spoke to preferred his old new shape as the wheel base was shorter. Not sure if that was more that he didnt want to part with the extra cash though

Wheel base is the same, if you take a look under the back, they havent even extended the chassis, just stuck a bigger tub on it. The barbarian comes unchipped to 176hp , but the super select is the biggest deal for me, no other pickup has it, and the Navara looks like flood defences

Another day of testing. Tried a Hilux this morning and was impressed with the ride and interior. I expected a bit more from the engine though - it didnt feel that powerful. Cost was a bit mad and they offered me a low p/x so that is probably a non starter.

Just back from testing a barbarian and was impressed with the increase in power. Price was very competitive but they are offering bottom dollar on my L200. Ive left it with them and will see what they come back with tomorrow.

When something seems too good to be true, it usually is.

Had a call back on the barbarian and the price quoted yesterday was ex-vat, despite me asking twice if the price included vat. This puts the barbarian back in the same price bracket as the competition. Salesman reccons that they are only making £150 on the deal as well which I would question on a 27K truck.

At the original price the Barbarian was top of the list for value but 2nd / 3rd terms of comfort and ride. Looks like I could be in for a change of manufacturer.

autoebid

I looked at this site before I bought mine, it claims to get dealers to haggle the price amongst themselves rather than with you.
It may be worth a shot, set a low price and see where the dealers get too.

I bought a brand new Mondeo from these guys a few years ago. Painless process, decent trade in on my old car, good discount with no haggling, UK cars from main dealers so no hassle with servicing or warranty work.

Well worth a look, even for a price matching challenge?

It's possible to believe the salesman will make £150 on the sale, but the dealership/garage must be making £1k+

Guys I used to sell cars (for my sins) and on brand new cars it wasn't unheard of to sell them at cost or even a loss at times. The reason being the more cars which got registered the bigger the back door bonus the dealer got from the manufacturer. So it wouldn't surprise me if they were only making £150 on the deal

Do you have to buy new? Vat you have to pay, but 9% always used to be profit, then year one depreciation. There are plenty of low miles fsh barbs about, full spec with new 125k warranty
