New Shape Front Suspension Upgrade

#1 by oxfordsurveyors , Fri Feb 21, 2014 10:52 am

Hi

Want to replace front suspension coils/shocks and also looking at bushes.

Don't want to lift but just make ride a bit better.

99% road use.

Need some recommendations - dont need to be heavy duty just looking for better handling (might be a bit of an ask but not expecting road car manners).

Cheers

I got this quote a couple of weeks ago, you would want different spring rates if you don't want any lift but it'll give you an idea of cost for Old Man Emu kit from Taubenreuther.

http://www.tbruk.com

Thank you for your enquiry regarding a suspension upgrade for your Mitsubishi L200. From the information you provided on line we can offer you the following Old Man Emu (OME) suspension.

Front – load rating “winch & bumper” – estimated lift 10 – 20mm

Coil springs                              £176.53
Nitrocharger Sport struts            £376.84

Rear – load rating “Medium” – estimated lift 20 – 30mm

Leaf springs                              £344.18
Nitrocharger Sport shocks         £254.30
U Bolts                                     £28.36
Bush kits                                  £53.52
Greasable Shackle kit                £165.76

Carriage                                    £62.00

Total including VAT                   £1461.49

I'm sure @Basil will happily give you an opinion on his front upgrade. Seems very happy with them

Yes Ralph, I got that quote from tbruk, and got +50kg coils and nitrochargers, best £600 I've spent, not so bouncy and safer to drive imo. At speed the rear of the truck leaps about a bit on highland roads so they're next. I'm not doing the leaves as someone here said they were too harsh.

1. Can I upgrade front without doing rear at same time - will truck still be level?

2. Also don't need such heavy duty on front (no winch) - are there different weight ratings?

3. Are there bushes on front that would need doing - are there kits for front only or are they full sets?

Yes you can just do the front,, and mine now sits level, (they are normally nose down)

Mine isnt harsh, just easy to handle, so I would recommend the plus 50kg

nah I'm just about to crash 50k miles and the front is still tight
