beast needs a service and gonna try doing it myself and see how much extra i spend by funking it up! lol

2 questions, 1 - does the sump need a special key or is it just a socket? 2 - what's the best oil to go for? 10W40 full synth?

I use 15 / 40 semi synth and I believe the sump plug us a 17mm. If you are going to use a socket, try if possible to use a 6 sided instead of a 12 sided, much better for the sump plug, saves rounding the corners.

I fitted a new plug and washer when i did mine as i never knew how old it was so never took the chance.Well worth changing if you have never changed it and for what it cost.I do tend to change them at least once every 2 years anyway

thanks lez, i think all of my sockets are 6 sided ones anyway, good ones and they werent cheap! lol.

getting a new sump plug too storm.

I got to get another good socket set myself as the old 1/2"drive i had from the f.i.l is about 40yrs old and half the sockets are knackered now.

May be better at Machine Mart for those, not sure if Halfords do them. (prob do thou)

i got an air gun but a wrench would be better for the harder to get places.I got one on watch on ebay at the mo for about £30 so not a bad price.We don't have machine mart any where around here so it will have to be online if Halfords don't have them
