From your front brakes?
Does this noise click once when you hit the pedal ?

Does it sound rotational, or more like something shifting on the chassis?

I had something like that... It would just click just once when I'd break, almost every time. One click, fairly loud.
Took it to a garage, and they found out that it was a small piece of some kind of thin-metal-thingy-brake-pads-holder (being a non-english speaker, it's kinda hard to explain it for me.. ), not bigger than 1-2cm, it just sits at the end holding them in place... and it had a no more than 2 millimeters of free space - so they just physically stretched it a bit with the pliers so it would fit in nicely.. & never heard a click again.
... I'll try to get some more professional information tomorrow, gotta catch a guy who did the repair. ..or a picture. Hope I helped some... ..

I think that may be the wear indicator when the pads are worn it touches the disc and squeals

.."a thin strip of material used to align parts, make them fit" ... yeah, shim sounds like it! Thnx. ..at least that's what was wrong in my clicking case...
