Think I have a problem when engine is hot

#1 by Rob1307 , Wed Sep 03, 2014 9:28 pm

02 fbw engine, runs fine when cold and pulls well . When it is up to running temp the engine feels flat and down on power until turbo kicks in , this all started after filling up at supermarket but I have run a couple of tanks of fuel through it since . Don't know if was bad fuel or just a coincidence that this problem started then , it's a little better on garage fuel now . Also has a random hot start problem when it only starts when key is released from cranking engine

Had new belts and filters about 3000 miles ago
Fuel primer stays hard overnight
New fuel pickup in tank and replaced rotten fuel pipes at the back

Don't know where to look next so any help would be great

I did the belts on it and it's been fine until a couple of weeks ago, I did adjust the turbo to sort out the over boost it runs at 12psi on acceleration and settles to 10 psi normal driving

Certainly could be the pump timing out a tooth. I dont think its a fault with the pump itself, best strip it & check the marks first.

as a wise @skotl once said .......... have you changed the fuel filter ? I change mine every 5,000 miles regardless. It may have picked up some sh1te from the old stack pipes perhaps ?

if it were me I'd change the filter and fill it up with forte (the filter not the tank) and give that a go first
and also check the air filter isn't blocked too

I hang my head in shame for this one , got off work early so had a look around the truck for anything obvious that may cause running problem . It was when I looked at the fuel lines I replaced and discovered the loose fuel feed pipe on the stack . So half a tank of v power diesel and a quick turn of the screwdriver and all seems well , did find one glow plug not working so ordered new ones
