My l200 engine needs a full recon anyone know the best place to get it done. In oxon area but willing to take further

By the time you buy a full recon and get it fitted, you will pay nearly as much for a new engine less all the good bits you can sell (Turbo, pump, etc). Recon engines have a nasty habit of going pop. The recon workshops often miss out key bits.
Buy cheap, buy twice and all that

Local garage took the top off but couldn't see anything and said the load banging noise is comeing from down below dispute it sounding on the top

You'll have no1 or no 2 big end shell, picked up and spun on the crank..

TBH even if you rebuild it I've never known one to last, best buy brand new from Milners Off Road, and never have any doubts again..

Milners about .£2400 for a long engine which includes the head and injectors fitted. then take all the good bits of your old engine and fit to your new one. ie Turbo, Alternator, oil and water pump.
