My turbo packed up, so I fitted a turbo which was working fine that I took off identical 2004 L200
When fitted the replacement would not run well & was no different to the blown turbo.
I took off the pipe on top of the actuator blocked it with a bolt so as not to bring on EML & hey presto it now runs fine, my question is how come?
Obviously with the actuator effectively disconnected the butterfly thingy on the turbo exhaust bit remains back against the stops & does not move so how come it runs & pulls ok ?
Duno but we need an answer to that: im sure the knowledgable peeps will be on soon

what does the turbo boost to?
a little info on the turbo set up for you
remove the turbo actuator solenoid on the rocker box and give it a clean, try and energise it as well, that will help the boost stabilise.
Quick lesson, at under 2500rpm the actuator activates and vacuum acts on the actuator holding the spindle against the upper turbo screw, over 2500 rpm the vacuum goes and the spindle rests on the bottom screw.
Regarding the lower screw, undo it until it only protrudes about 2mm then adjust the spindle to allow it to rest on the screw. Ensure the spindle eye does not foul and bind.
