Ok guys i am about to give a lift a go on my classic and a few things i thought i would get straight before i embark.
here goes....
I am doing a 2" lift but i also want to level the front via the torsion bars, so probably a couple of inches there as well -- does this affect the length of the brake hose i need to fit, or anything else ?
do you need to slacken the exhaust ?
will the gear/4wd levers work ok if i cut the console at the rear ?
i want to keep my 16" alloys but fit mud terrains what is a safe size to go with ?
Thanks in advance for any help

Brake hoses shoud be ok with a 2" lift you will see afterwards
No dont wory about exhaust its mounted to the chassis
Yes the 2nd 4th and R gears will go in with some trimming of the consoles rear morew than u think might need new gaitors too
You will fit 285/75/16 MT with a little bit of work to the archs and bumper
You may find it a little bouncier with the torsion bars raised just raise them so there is a small gap in the bump stops or trim the bump stop if you feel u need more some people even remove the bump stops

cheers
Will the hoses be ok with the 2" lift and the torsion lift ?
Would a couple of inches chopped out of the console be enough for clearance of the gearsticks ?
What do i need to do to the arches/ bumper
Not looking forward to it being bouncier as it bounces better than a spacehopper now lol

I found the console only needs a 1/2 trim on the left side only.

The torsion lift wont affect any thing major like hoses ect.
You will have to check the hoses when lifted I only replaced the brake assist vac hose as it was not long enough and I did 2.5 inch lift.
Trim ur console a wee bit at a time until its just enough.
Front bumper trim for wheels and maybe rear wheel arch but you may be ok here too. I have a lot of weight on tue front of mine so had to trim more. Judge when u get new tyres.

You won't encounter any issues by winding up the bars, other than a bouncier ride and camber issues with tyres that can be corrected by shims, however with a body lift you may also find that the radiator viscous fan fouls on the fan cowling and you may have to remove the bottom of the fan cowling, you will also have to modify the front bumper brackets as it will sit 2 inches lower with the body lift, also keep an eye on the brake flexi's and vacuum hoses, as a 2 inch lift is on the limit, I'd personally change them, especially if your planning on a bit of articulation off road, if not wanting to extend the hoses I'd be tempted to only go 1.5 inch body lift.

I have so far, chopped a bit from the centre console and removed the fan cowling. The body mount bolts have all been cleaned and sprayed with releasing spray. I am basically doing a bit at a time so when i come to do the lift i can bish bosh bash job done. I think i might aswell get the brake hoses done before i do the lift as it will spend a fair bit of time off road, nowt serious just plugging around farms etc.
Where is the vacuum hose i need to look out for as i have hose so may as well stick a longer bit on ?
It also needs shocks so should i put extended ones on or not ?
Thanks for the help so far guys.....

Where are you measuring from ?
is it from the center of the axle to the top of the arch?
if so mine is 25" front 27.5 rear
front is t-bars adjusted & top ball joints inverted & bump stops removed
rear is a set of lez t's shackles

follow the torsion bar all the way to the rear end of it you will see a hole with a bolt in this is the one u turn with a socket but first look above the x member where the bolt goes through and losen the 2 lock nuts
