Lol..yes..just had this discusion earlier..it's very probably leaf spring bushes..could be spring eye bushes or shackle bushes..ive replaced all mine as mine was clonking..now it's stopped, until it's wet weather then I get a slight clonk again.not as bad but it's there.so,I guess what im saying is'replacing the bushes won't cure it entirely.this is from my experience only and not intended as a definitive answer

I had a clonk firm the rear which when I replaced my shackles one of the old bushes looked ok in situ but when removed was obviously worn through. Bushes would be my guess.

Bit different though as wasnt that due to a saggy loose rear end?

I thought I didn't put a wheel on tight enough at first but wasn't that.

That's made me think..i replaced all my rear bushes with the Orange ones from milners or ks ( can't remember wich one ). My clonking stopped instantly but..when it's wet weather i get a clonk..not as bad but it's there. Now,you just mentioned when you lubed your springs, the clonk came back..im betting it's the front spring eye bush like mine that makes this noise..so..why so when wet? How can it be stopped? Is gen bushes the only way to go? Although I believe my spring eye bushes are gen so that would exclude that theory.
