I have a 2010 L200 Trojan, which has recently developed an issue with the EGR. My local dealer diagnosed a fault with the EGR solenoid and quoted £400 for a replacement /install. I spoke to my local ECU Remapping company who claimed they could boost the power of my engine and remove the need for the EGR from the ECU, I had the remap done but the firm were unable to access the EGR programming and so the engine management light still shows on the dash?!? The ECU remap was successful with regards to the power increase as their is a noticeable improvement. What should my next course of action be, try blanking plates or bite the bullet and replace the EGR as I have found cheaper replacements on the Internet which I can fit myself. Any advice would be much appreciated!

You cant delete the EGR on new shapes.
You can use a blanking plate but the EGR still needs to be working.
Some say the full blanking plates put the EML on, ive fitted a Restrictor type blanking plate on mine, it has a 1/4 hole in it.
New EGR valves are about £185 from Mitzi, I had a new one for mine 18 months ago.

Thank you all for your responses.
Do any of you know if it is possible to purchase the EGR solenoid alone rather than the full assembly??
As far as I know you need to buy it all as a unit, the EGR and the motor.

I have bit the bullet and order a second hand EGR valve, once I have fitted it will the engine management light automatically switch off or will I need to visit my local dealer?
You could always fit it and disconnect the battery overnight, it may forget about the problem.
If not it will need a plug in, most OBD2 readers will fix it.
Where in the UK are you, if you are close to another member with a reader they will prob do it you as a favour (or a few tinnies)
