Good evening guys
Got myself a 2008 diamond auto through the week and its just started playing up, when i pull away and try to get up to speed quickly or give more than 50% throttle it will splutter and give injector type knock, put my Delphi laptop on and its coming up with P0219 Engine overspeed recognition present. I can erase the fault re road test and the first splutter brings the fault back up, the vehicle is never over 3k rpm but still comes up with the code. Oh and no permanent EML it only flashes and rev counter drops off when it happens.
Im thinking crankshaft sensor but would like some expert opinions. Im starting to think i should have kept the old classic.

Long story short problem turned out to be the boost pressure sensor hose port on the inlet manifold, choked with EGR gunge, took off the inlet manifold and de coked it. Could barely get a finger in each port.
Maybe worth checking its clear for those without blanked EGRs. Trucks now a pleasure to drive.

Get that egr disabled. See my how to in order to stop it coming on. It's probably the best and cheapest mod you can do for a new shape and this thread just goes to show how much carbon build up this waste of time part causes!

@deg
You'll find the boost sensor on the bulk head on the right hand side of the engine cover (do not break the sensor as it Mitsubishi only part and is around £180 to replace) follow the small black vacuum hose to the inlet manifold (goes into the manifold diagonally left of the throttle body) pull the pipe off the little nipple on the inlet manifold then poke a wire (earth wire is the right size in some twin and earth cable) while the pipe is off check it for splits replace if necessary. It is possible to do this without removing the plastic engine cover although a little fiddely.
Although it would hurt to spray a little carb cleaner in there either (do so at your own risk)

Cleaned my boost sensor port and scv tonight. Truck now revs easier and tick over is much better. Worth doing imo.

Foxychris I made an EGR blank from a bit of 2mm steel sheet to keep the carbon at bay.
