Thanks again folks,That was a great fix Badger hope I get away with that too, I will change it tomorrow weather permitting I don't want to speak too soon but since replacing rad cap it seems to be OK so far but I've not done a great milage yet but no symptoms as yet. The other thing I have noticed since new cap is that it seems to be taking longer to get up to normal running temp.

Just to update this topic,I have tried all the quick cheap things first new rad cap, Thermostat, and small host to expansion tank but the problem was getting worse with white foam in the rad after a couple of minutes.I felt it was too risky to take Mallinman up on the great offer of helping me change the gasket Thanks again Mallinman.
I've got my motor back from the dealers with new head gasket, timing belts and oil change so hopefully a while with care free motoring.
Thanks to the members of this site for the help and advice I received

Too risky!! Am not that bad. Only joking.
Glad u got it all sorted. At least from the dealers you have got warranty on the work they do as well. More peace of mind.

Yeah hot chef it was luckily just the HG and the egr is still connected, I'm sure I read here somewhere that the egr on new shape was not as bad as the old shape and home made mods were needed to the wiring on them.

Okay cheers, yeah about 5l came out, Do you just leave the hose in the top of the rad with water running through? Do you do it with the engine running or not? Thanks
