Hi Guys, so I just bought a 2007 L200 2.5DID double cab. Very happy with the car and got it att a fair price as the previous owner had been having a problem with the EML light coming on when the vehicle is under load. I have now driven it some 3-400 km, and it drives great but if you accelerate hard, at around 2.5-3000rpm the power cuts and it go´s into limp mode. If you reset the ignition the problem is gone temporarily. The car is still quite drivable as long as you are happy to drive slowly. However given that I live in the mountains I do need and want to fix this. I have plugged in a generic fault code reader and it shows: po234 can bus engine overboots condition (the fault code reader is one that is specific for VAG, but its all I have). I have done a little googling and it seams these vehicles have over boost issues related to the turbo. I have now joined this forum and tried to find some info on how to diagnosis and solve this problem. It seams there is allot of info on the classic L200 in the how to´s but I am struggling to find a write up on what to dos on the later models. Does anyone haven advise on where I should start? My guess is replace/recon the turbo? and or change some sensors on the turbo, but I am guessing. Any advise warmly welcomed. Thanks in advance. Regards Jim
PS- Otherwise very impressed with the L200. My other car is an older Landcrusier 90 and I was originally looking for a Hilux but recognised you get allot more in a L200 for your money. I have been using it this weekend for the first time driving up to the ski hill, and it feels very good. I think if I can get this problem solved it will become very popular in our family as it could be the most practical solution for our lifestyle:-)

If it's 06 onward shape have a look at the turbo to actuator pipe see if its either split or has a bras insert with hole in it. If its split replace it if it has the brass bit check near the battery for a small black box with rallitronic on it if this is missing remove the pipe with brass insert and replace with a new piece of vacuum hose. You could ask try following the map sensor to the inley manifold and pulling the pipe off and poking a wire in although that r really won't bring up a fault code but may as well clean it out. Also spray clean the maf sensor

I dont know if it has been decoked ever as I just bought it. The previous owner owned it from new, but has lived with the problem (he was a pensioner) since 2013! By decoke I presume you mean EGR and inlet manifold? Is there any tricks to de coking the manifold at home, or is this a specialist job (obviously you can remove the parts at home but I refer too the actual job of removing the carbon build up). Thanks J

Manifold removal takes a long time but no specialist tools required. It's not the easiest job.

Oven cleaner moose was the best i used I tried a few other bits but personally keep a look out for a cleaned or new manifold on ebay its a twat to clean either that or that bg clean seems to be a better option no need to strip down. Cleaning the manifold out won't sort your overboost problem

Manifold will need a soak overnight in TFR or Gunk Degreaser.
A hot jet wash will help to clean it all off.
I would go Gen Mitzi dealers for the Gaskets, they know what you need if you tell them you are doing a Manifold clean.
Clean the EGR valve as well, if tappets are noisy now is a good time to re set them while its striped down.
