Right. I am finally going to get round to wiring up my spots. Also I want to fit a heater in the tub to dry out the moisture created by my job (inspiration from Lez's tub heater) . I have a battery for my equipment in the tub which I want to be charged from the truck. The tub heater will also help with warming the leisure battery when charging. I would like two switches in the cab, one for the spot lights and another to turn off the charge for the leisure battery and the tub heater.

And this is how I am thinking I should do it: One relay for the leisure battery charge. This battery only runs a pump which draws 7AH max and the heater. I'm thinking something like Werbung: this. Then run the switch into the cab on the relay trigger.

Then two relays for the spots lights (6x55w) and again a switch in the cab on the relay trigger. Also fuse the live feed for the spots.

Now, I run the live feed through the relays, right? and then negative to an earth?

Assuming this is all correct could you help me out with what size relays I need. Electrical maths - rsuty!

Lez has all the details you need, he also does some excellent plug and play looms for spots .

4spots on the roof and 2 in the grill. The ones on the roof are above the front half of the cab mounted to my forward roof bar.

2 30A relays will do you fine mate, can get them from any motor factors or maplin etc.. only cost a few quids.

i run my 4 lamps through 1 30A (i think) and yet to have a problem. i'm suprised the all still work after my shoddy wiring job!

oh yeah, and to help with your electrical maths...

remember that P=IV (watts=current x volts) so I=p/v (current=watts devided by volts). so if you have 2 spots on the front on one relay and 4 on the top, you'll need a 10A and 20A fuse.

i loved physics at school! lol

Got the split charger for the auxiliary battery wired up. And the tub heater too. Split charger runs off one of the missile switches next to hand brake. That's a battery that I was charging indoors that can now stay in the truck. I think I may fit a remote switch to the tub heater so I can turn it on and off from the cab. Was hoping to get the spots wired up but took too long. Cables in place though, just need to do relays for them and connect to spots.
