Pram battery at 18v???

#1 by Mikey360 , Thu Dec 29, 2016 12:46 pm

Hi all, just checked the battery with my voltmeter as its been struggling to start recently only to find its at 18v? Started it up and its running at 15.8v~.
Is it likely that the recifier has gone or is it just at such a high voltage because it struggles to start and its putting more charge through it?
I'm doing a long journey on Saturday (Peterborough to Southampton and back), so any help asap would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Sounds like voltage stabillizer in the Alternator, be careful you will cook the battery and wiring at 18V

Bugger, thanks for the replies. New alternator or can you buy the reg pack from somewhere? Tried Mitsubishi in corby and they only seem to sell the alternator

Anyone know how to get the Milners code working? Using TRITON in the voucher bit, but comes up saying order needs to be over £50? Baskets at £120? Or would it just be easier to do it over the phone
