Arrived home today from a week away on Bodmin Moor to find a K & N Apollo Air filter waiting for me...

Thats getting fitted in the next couple o'hours me thinks! Looking through the forum, I've also found a smashing fitting guide - thanks Greig for the photos!

Next up will be the de-cat...

Good stuff, I'll take the plaudits on behalf of Greigy
one thing I would recommend is trying to source a propper rubber or silicone intake pipe to replace the paper foil intake pipe supplied, I found one in a box of old bits, I think its from a Sierra cosworth, it really dampens the racket from the apollo.
Pretty easy to fit, Tbh it was a bit of a placebo, it makes a racket and you tell yourself its got to be doing something but in truth I don't know if it makes any difference

I`ll second that, the paper foil thing was in bits yesterday when we were in about it - so I need a replacement now.

I popped out and took a quick snap of the induction hose and put it in the gallery with the rest of the Apollo pics

[widget=1217]

It makes a big difference to the tinny racket from the Apollo

It was in a box of old bits in my mates garage Geoff, the rest of the bits in the box were off a Sierra cosworth so I can only assume that this was to, I had to trim about an inch off either end and it was super tight to get onto the apollo but it does the job nicely, I don't think it will fit the snorkel (if it ever arrives), if it doesn't fit its yours if you want it

Compared to the induction kit on my sierra, the apollo sounds cr@p, did you clean and re oil your panel filter?

Cleaned - yep - not re-oiled yet.

Blast from the past - just reading through a set of posts on the OC about CBs, where you have a number of deep and meaningful posts, and see Greigy and Woody berating Baz for not spending his £15 on full membership.
Times change, huh?

Good lad, their not designed to be used dry, it can let big particles of dirt pass throughn if you still have your paper one I'd use that until its re oiled

Yeah body / paint work and CB / multimode radios are 2 topics I am well versed in

How many miles are you suppose to do before cleaning and oiling the element?

Yoda - think it's supposed to be annually.

Mine got wet a few times at inverness tho, so I had to resort to drying it with bog roll. Which is probably not in the manual...

There you go Scot! An informative and educational post!

I've had mine in about 6 - 8 months. Just wondering if I should clean it.

Providng its not been immersed in a bog several times then annually is fine dependant on milage of course, I think k+n say every 20k but I wouldn't leave it that long

Good stuff, I couldn't really notice a difference in performance but its must be doing something as there's much more air getting in, I hate the noise of mine, it did get slightly better with replacing the paper hose but I hope is even better when plumbed into a snorkel

It will be difficult to find one that's exact, a good way would be to trawl the scrappy and try to finda standard induction hose that will do or if you really want silicone identify one on a scrapper and buy its equivalent in silicone

I'm pretty sure mine came off a cossie but don't know which model or year
