Front Brakes

#1 by stib ( Guest ) , Mon Feb 06, 2017 11:47 am

Hi, I'm new to the forum though I do often read posts here :)
Got 2 L200's 4wd which I'm trying to keep alive lol but I've just changed the front brakes on one of them and all I'm getting from the foot pedal when I brake is a buzzing sound which I can feel on the pedal. I've just changed an abs sensor and now going to fit the other but I'm really thinking they are not the issue as the abs light would be lit on the dash?

Any help would be most appreciated :)

Hi Stib
I dont have the answer to your question but the people that may know will ask what year and model of truck your are talking about here
pre2003 classic ? 2003-2006 classic (classic is squarer shape) 2006-2010 newshape (curved bed) 4work/4life/warrior/animal/barbarian etc etc
the more info you can give the better chance someone may know the answer

buzzing is probably the abs pump or module

Thanks for the reply's,
it's an 05 plate, animal with abs
There was no buzzing before until I changed the front pads and disks
Buzzing happens when hard braking, feel it on the foot pedal

Is it possible the fronts are over braking due to worn rears? Hence possibly the abs cutting in?

It does sound like your ABS ' kicking in ' to me. I get a sort of buzzing noise and vibration through my pedal when the ABS cuts in. You shouldn't be able to feel it unless you are locking up or possibly sliding, and new brake pads shouldn't really affect it ( just done my fronts ...never touched my rears before ) ... How hard and fast are you braking...as that will affect the ABS

Any speed over 10mph, had new brakes fitted on our 04 plate and no issues ( I did not fit them )
I've done nothing out of the ordinary when replacing them, I'm guessing it's fine to push the brake pistons back as you do any other vehicle? never replaced brakes/pads with abs, only tinker with mk1 golfs lol

hmmm... how free were the slider pins on the calipers when you changed them?, and yes you would need to wind the pistons back in otherwise the pads don't go in!

Slider pins free, sensors replaced yet its still doing it, if I had known its was gonna be this much trouble changing disks and pads I would of not touched the brakes lol
