Wired up the 7" screen and ran all the wires to the rear for the 3 cameras.
Hope to finish the job tomorrow.
Need to make some kinda bracket for the camera to sit on behind the number plate.
Was going to us wood but thought better of it.
Found some metal to use for a longer lasting job!

And how are you switching between cameras, or will they all display on the screen at once...?

the one for reversing the truck will work by itself but when I hook up the trailer I will plug in the 2 rca leads one for each cam on the trailer and just select av1 to watch inside the box or av2 when I want to reverse the trailer simples.

cheers Bootsie, horse's we got 2.
I have still gotta wire up the truck cam.
It didnt work off of the power out from the screen.
I plan to wire a + to the revese lights and side lights so I can have it on when I want and so that it will come on all by itself when I select reverse.
I have not tried towing them in the trailer yet.
Truck seemed slow enough with it empty.
Dred to think what an extra 1400kg in it will be like!

You need to wire it to the same power in to the screen, so one from power to cams and one power to screen, power can be from same point or a different sourse for cam and different for screen. as long as the vid (bnc) cable goes from cam's to screen.

123HC, the only problem with a direct connection via the reverse and sidelights is that unless you seperate the two circuits then when you switch on the sidelights the reverse will come on and vice versa, if you can get to Maplins or an Electronics parts supplier, ( some Vehicle Alarm Shops will have them too ) you will need to get two 1N4001 Diodes ( around 20p each) and install them where you connect to the camare system.
They will be a wire with a cylindrical black lump in the middle, on one end of the lump will be a silver or white band round it, join the two banded ends together and connect this to the camera system, put the sidelights wire on one of the other 'unbanded' ends and the reverse light wire on the other of the 'unbanded' ends
Info. A diode is a one way valve for electricity, the end without the band will allow positive to flow from that end through the diode.......the end with the band will allow a negative to flow through towards the banded end.
So what we have done in the bit above is to set two one way valves that will allow the sidelight positive signal to go to the camera system and likewise the reverse light positive signal to go to the camera system but because the banded end is toward the camera system, when either positive signal gets there it cannot go back down the other line and 'turn on' the other one.
Any problems just give me a shout.

Hi Lez,
Thanks for the input mate.
You explained that so well.
I did not think about the lights comming on together.
Doh! silly me.
Where is the best place to locate the diodes, I am thinking behind the rear light cluster.

Use part number QL82D I cannot believe that these robbing b***ards are asking so much for these. it is a higher rated diode but will be fine for what you need
