Hi people,
So heading home from work yesterday and temp rises to 3/4..pulled over straight away and found water pissing out of the rad...let it cool and filled up with water from the shop. Only 5 mins from home so got home and pulled rad out. Nice hole init, bought a new one today fitted and filled with coolant. Ran up to temp stationary then went for a drive and seemed ok sticking to half way.
Just been out and temperature was good but again raised to 3/4, got home and checked rad level, it took another 2 1/3 litres of fluid. Seems ok now. Took cap off rad and water was flowing when on the throttle. No pressurised pipes. Temp staying at half way.
Am I right in thinking when I filled new rad up I didn't fill enough to fill engine and rad?? Coolant level in the bottle hasn't moved at all.
Help
Cheers Gaz

Does sound like it had an airlock ... if you parked on a fairly steep hill ( or raised the front end ) when refilling the coolant , you can usually eliminate airlocks. But as Cheffy says just keep an eye on it, just inn case you have another small leak

Hoping so. Cap has been off while I've been hard on the throttle and water pumping through the rad. Coolant botthe not been affected at all...strange setup having 1 small pipe flowing into it from the rad, assume this is anot overflow?

It is an overflow , but also sucks some back if needed , BUT it never seems to be pressurized as you have an overflow pipe on the header tank cap

if it does pressurize u have other problems i think u will be ok if there are no bubbles in the bottle

I've had head gasket problems in the past and all seem to pressurise the system and pipework. I'm dreading it being a water pump failure as it's OK one minute f**ked the next

Haven't heard of that many waterpumps failing on L200's to be honest ... its certainly not common!

Update on the issue...all sorted coming to work. Nice 7mile drive stuck to half way on the temp gauge.
