hi all
well i have the green flashing light and I'm at a dead end
so far
replaced the solenoids both ok
power to the solenoids both light up a 12volt bulb
check the pipes and replaced some all ok
vacuum to the brake servo yes big hiss when disconnected
checked the actuator arm moves freely does engage and disengage but the prop needs to be turned a little to get the right alignment
however the banjo on the alternator was loose like finger tight oil over the back of it also
the first vacuum connection off the back of the engine there is some suction but not much i mean a tiny amount
the reservoir tank looks good no rot put pressure via an airline and its doesn't leak cant be 100%
so what next
could the alternator pump be shot the covers were missing (in the wheel arch) and the battery is new (I've just aquired the l200) i do not know which part to replace next
cheers

Other common fault areas,
The vacuum accumulator tank, on the chassis behind the o/s front wheel
The metal pipes on the chassis below the tank
The 4wd ECU behind the front passenger kick board, the terminals get corrosion on them.

Is it a classic or new shape

its the classic shape 2002 4 life
i put pressure onto the pipe from the tank and it seems to hold the reservoir tank looks ok
i will check the 4wd ecu for corrosion later
there just dosent seem to be much vacuum from the alternator but there must be because the brakes are fine and there is a big hiss when i take the pipe off the servo

You really need a vacuum pressure tester, you can get them off eBay they double up as brake bleeding kits.
You may have a blockage.
Easiest way to ensure the pipes are not to blame is replace them. A lot of us use silicon vacuum hose again of eBay, cheap as chips just a time consuming job.

Aye get a vac gauge! worth pulling pipe off accumulator to see if vacuum being stored there. Check one way valve by solenoid is working.

I'm sure I care across a post on here where the metal vac pipes that run next to the rocker cover were blocked wit carbon build up and were causing problem ( excessive alcohol may affect the quality of my posts )

ok i now have vacuum 25 pounds on the gauge all over the shop all the pipes are good the solenoids are new the air vacuum tank is holding vacuum fine but it still won't come out of 4wd i have used wd40 on the shaft it will go in and out with ease if the prop is turned slightly so is the actuator knackered or is the diff on its last legs I have tried switching the pipes on the solenoids with no difference

nothing to do with the diff is it

You said the 2WD/4WD engages/disengages when you move the lever by hand - does the light go out when you move the arm by hand towards the diff (2WD position)?
Do you have a hand pump or just a gauge?
If you got a pump, attach it directly to the front (2WD) actuator nozzle and see if vacuum directly from the pump will disengage 2WD.
Do the same for the 4WD nozzle, see if that engages it.
If this engages/disengages 4WD, then there is no prob with the mechanics.
if you don't have a pump, get a length of vacuum hose and attach it to the vacuum feed from the 4 way splitter by the solenoids and then directly to the actuator nozzles to achieve the same effect. this bypasses the solenoids to rule that out as a problem.
If this works, let us know and we'll do some troubleshooting on the vacuum solenoid set up.
