I the drivers side front wheel has pushed out at the top but don't look to bad though.

That's exactly what happened to me.

Instead of getting these spacers from mitsi, couldn't i just use some thin metal to bring the wheel back in line again

As far as I recall they wrap around the bolts. But I don't see why not if it functions the same way.

Rich, if I remember correctly, the shims come as a pack with varying sizes to get the settings dead right...

Rich there are two types.
Part Name for both is 'Front Shims for Camber Adjusting'
Type a which is individual shims for each bolt.
Type b which is a double shim which does both bolts in one go.

Type a 1mm part number MB 176288
Type a 2mm part number MB 176289

Type b 1mm part number MB 132525
Type b 2mm part number MB 132526.

By the looks of it, just slacken the bolts and slip in the shim, retighten. don't seem to be rocket science to do.
Lez.

I had to second guess mine. So if Lez comes up with a way of knowing then that will be great. Believe my drivers side needed 3mm and passenger side 1mm. Turned out near spot on at the alignment centre though
