Classic tub...

#1 by woody13 , Thu Oct 25, 2012 4:29 pm

This may seem a bit early but as some of you know I'm goin trayback in January,as such the tub will be up for sale.
However it's a bit on the rotten side of life.It is not beyond repair. It would make a great trailer.
So it will be going cheap....
Let me know if your're interested, maybe do a deal on something interesting...

Think Colin and Baz were talking about doing a trailer?

Short in length, high in stature. It's gonna carry the spare on nearside and between the braces will be a van vault grafted in to suit...

I really like the idea if a Tub Trailer, I think they would be very desired byt L200 owners. I need a towbar and a trailer, but the cost of trailers for what you get puts me off,

whereas a Tub Trailer.....

I'd like one - at one point. I think they look good towed behind your truck, and compared to what a crappy little trailer costs, they represent decent value.

like this (albeit a bit on the pricey side IMO)

And longer...

To do the project justice, you'd want the whole rear half inc. axle, etc. Matching alloys or steelies would finish it off. You're right Col, done right, the trailer would be worth a few quid.

the thing the navara has over the l200 tub is the navara wheel is in the middle of the tub whereas the l200 rear wheels are right at the front of the tub. - I think this would make the trailer quite awkward to tow when loaded balance-wise unless you retained a large a frame up to the tow hitch. and laid the spare flat across the a frame to give some counter balance.... just my gut feel having looked at both tubs off of the chassis.

cheers

Malky

hardly a hijack woody after people were refering to a possible use for the tub i merely gave my opinion - quite frankly if someone has a rough tub I'm sure they'll take it, best of luck with the sale - if you object to my post go ahead and ask a mod to remove or delete it - I shall take no offense.

Very easy to make a L200 tubbed trailer, do a full length bed with roller shuter and it'll be champion. Just strip down the rear axle and fit new bearings and its a winner.
