My 2006 L200 animal came with an armadillo roll-top, but no key to lock it, which means it keeps on rolling up when i drive.
Is it possible to just buy a replacement key? I've emailed eagle4x4 and they're trying to sell me a whole new replacement lock for £126!!!

Post a pic up of the lock , it might be generic enough that someone knowd somewhere cheaper to get one. The only option i can think is an automotive locksmith but unsure if they'd be able to help

The pics were a great help. However i bought the above lock, and found it didn't quite fit - specifically the panels that come out either side of the lock (either side of the screws on this picture g306p7842-IMG.html#viewport) have a small round bolt type thing that goes in to the groove in the slat - although on the ebay lock these bolt head things are too big and don't fit in this groove, on the original lock they are about half the diameter, unless i'm doing something clearly wrong (which is likely).

dont know ....... but I suspect you have to have the key in to remove the barrel if this helps
@ronniecabers might be able to help with regards to how locks work

Can't say i have ever removed a lock like that, taking it there are no screws holding it in? With a upvc cylinder you put the key in and turn it by about 20 degrees and then they pull out ( providing the holding screw in the side is removed first )

very true cheffy, Only yale type locks i've removed before have very obvious screws holding them in , which is just why i wondered if they were the same system as euros

thats what i thought , they are normally fairly easy to remove once you've got inside the casing that holds them. I'd be looking at removing the 4 screws on the big cover plate in that photo from the ebay ad , and see if that releases the centre lock
