Sliders fitted!

#1 by TwedL200 , Mon Feb 25, 2013 4:41 pm

Got my sliders fitted yesterday that i got from Steve at donington. Bit of a pig to fit on your own, drivers side wasn’t bad, passenger side was a pain. Had to bend the things that hold the brake and fuel pipes as Steve said to make a little bit of space to go between the pipes and chassis.

I got part threaded M8x100mm bolts but I ran out of threads when the clamps started to bite so used M10 bolts as big fat washers and put a bit of plastic between the U clamps and chassis to take up some free space and help with vibrations. I need to get some 80mm bolts to go on the clamp where the fuel tank is cos it's too close for comfort (may well be touching!)

old steps are easy to take off, a bolt goes up the way into the floor and a nut holds them on against the sill.

And fitted! took the pics today as it was dark by the time i got finished.

IMO, the sliders sit a little too far away for me (looks wise) but maybe they're supposed to so they can give a bit without damaging the sill. 3/4 of an inch higher would be nice but all good. looks bad ass!

thanks Steve!

The pics don't come out very well on photobucket (can't enlarge them). Any chance you could stick one up on the forum so we could see 'em in all their glory?

they look good mate, if it were me, I'd be tempted to put a strip of checker plate across the top of them to see what it looks like
but then again I have that on my sidesteps anyway so I might be a bit Biased
