Hi.
Pulled into petrol station today. Turned key to off position and took it out but engine stayed running. Had to stall jeep to shut engine off.
It started again no problem but later in day wouldn’t start. 10 minutes later started perfectly again. Still the issue of stalling in order to shut engine off though.
Any ideas?

Cheers, hotchef. I didn’t realise that all these years calling my L200 a jeep has hurt it’s feelings. So I’ll just pop out now and call it something else and it will work again?
Happy days.
Ps: in Ireland they’re called jeeps.
Possibly wear in the ignition barrel? How old is the truck , do you have s spare key to try?

It wouldn’t start at all this morning so will look at ignition at the weekend. It was just the weirdness of it still running even though the keys were out and the only way to stop it was to stall it.
yes that dont sound good, id check the ignition barrel first, was it ticking over normally with key removed?
did it turn over this morning?

This morning it was turning over but wouldn’t give the final kick into action. When the key was out and it was still running, it sounded perfectly normal as though the key was still in ignition.
Have a mechanic friend who’s going to pop over this evening to see if he can work out the issue. Just thought I’d make a post here to see if anyone had ever had the same issue as it’s a weird one.
Thanks for all your replies. I’ll post back with any updates.
when you tried to start it this morning did the engine light come on and go off as it should do?

*UPDATE*
The wiring underneath the steering wheel was worn. My mechanic friend says I was probably hitting wires together with my dirty work boots as I got in and out. So, some soldering and insulating and L200 turning off and on again.
Couldn’t have had a better result. 20 euros and a couple of pints for my mate. Happy days.
Thanks everyone :)
great news, where are you then?
