Looking for advice Since changing the bottom seal the steering wheel has a lot of play in it. Loosened of the lock nut today but the adjusting screw is stuck to the nut. Don't want to go to the angry place so any advice on loosening the screw thread, it is soaked in WD40 just now. Wary of putting heat into it.

heat will melt the seal if you aint careful its tight for a decent screwdriver you can use a steel shim sideways for extra levrage

It will stop the adjuster bolt from turning while I try to move the lock nut. Better than mangling the slot in the bolt.

Well when I tried to remove locknut the whole adjuster bolt and locknut turned. The locknut and adjuster appear to be rusted together. By turning down a cap nut clockwise it will lock on to the thread. By holding this in position I will be able to place an open ended spanner on the lock nut and turn the lock nut anti clockwise breaking the rust, loosening the locknut and thus being able to adjust the adjustable bolt. Obviously if it is a left handed thread then what I've just said is bollocks. Is this a trade test ???

So u need to bottom out the dome nut for this to work. Try a 50 50 mix of acetone and atf it is magic.
