Thanks for the welcome..... I think I jumped in at the deepend with my new L200!! I’ve bought a 2004 2.8 import, I think I’m correct in saying this is the k77 engine. I’ve bought as a non runner as the gearbox has failed. I wasn’t really looking for a project, more a work vehicle for doing ‘homers’ but decent trucks demand good prices so I thought I’d give this a go and worst case break it as there are some decent parts on it.

I’m in Ballynahinch, Co. Down, Northern Ireland, just wanting to know if anyone out there knows any specialists in imported trucks to source a gearbox or is it a matter of getting on the phone and starting to call around breakers!

I have a handyman business. I also had a hatchback. After each job the wife was fed up of all my tools slowly moving from the back, onto the back seat and eventually into the passenger footwell. I was 'ordered' to get a truck so that all my stuff would stay in the back and the front would stay clean. That's how I ended up with a 17 plate Barbarian series 5. I'm in Warrington.
The main reason for joining the site was to find out how to best carry a ladder on the vehicle as, surprisingly, the main dealer cannot help with roofbar information.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I'm a HGV driver and mechanic from East Yorkshire. Last week I bought a K74 Animal on an 06 plate, mainly to have a decent second family car but also for abit of fun. New clutch pack and timing/auxiliary belts already ordered from milners 👍 looking forward to sifting through all of the good advice in this forum 😁

Garry, pretty sure you'll need a 3144 fitting kit for a thule roof bar/rack system
check first but the fitting kits are interchangeable with their foot packs
I kept my old roof rack from my classic and just forked out for a new foot pack for my new truck
my original roof bars were from a fiat punto if I recall and I just changed the fitting kit ------> g453-roof-rack.html

@AndrewP
With the imports they just seem to throw in with what’s on the shelf at the time. There seems to be no common parts on these. My 2.8 not so 2.8 has the 3.2 shogun gearbox and transfer box from the factory. Don’t know why. Prob all they had at the time. You are best getting the correct gearbox number off the box before you go looking. Just to be sure.

Thanks for the advice, the box was removed and sent to be repaired at a local specialist, but to no avail, I’ll see about getting the box back and get the details and then go from there.... the mechanic that worked on it before I bought it told me he got a 2.5 box and it didn’t fit, hence sending it for repair.
