Well,
really need to replace the crank pulley on disco, idler bearing seized last year , replaced last Jan but then virus hit us so the poor old thing has been sorned ever since. Bearing stressed the pulley and after 12 months of just running on drive it delaminated and shredded the new aux belt!! Really MUST replace the pulley bought it in feb last year still sitting workshop. Right question the crank bolt is obviously tight and will need a long bar plus scaffold pole to undo ,no prob but HOW do I torque the new bolt up to 350 Lbs ft without a mega wrench my torque wrench maxes at 160! is there a trick/tweek that I can do!
did have warrior, but crossed over to disco 2.
Thought I could see light at the end of the tunnel, but it was somebody with a torch bringing more work!

A five foot scaffie bar on a 3/4 drive Tbar and socket, pull it till it reads about 70lb.

Thats a helluva torque Paul... I see from a quick.look around that you are unlikely to find one at many garages either. I've read a few just tighten it up with a 6ft pry bar and pull.as hard as you two of you can! I suspect that is very hit or miss ! Maybe get it as tight as you can and get down an hgv fitters yard and get them to tighten/check it

It’s your disco bud. Just put the new bolt in to the max torque of your wrench. Then blob a wee weld tack on it. And for those who will moan about an imbalance in weight then shave a wee bit off the bolt on the opposite side of the weld to even it out. Or take it to land rover and and get a bridging loan out whilst you get your second mortgage sorted to pay for land rovers bill. Lol

I would recheck that 350Lbf/ft figure. Thats 474Nm and seems strupidy tight. Wheel bearing nuts are generally only 200Nm

@paulw Aye checking my defender workshop manual the crank bolt on that is only 199 lbf/ft , don't want to seem patronising, you sure that's not 350 Nm which is still a hefty 258lbf/ft
