Just need to pick your brains.....Twin pot calipers on sliding pins...need the little rubber boots that shroud the pins.....Milners only do the ones for the single pots...Any idea where I can get them? Just want to do a decent job
Next....when the retaining ring is screwed on that preloads the bearings , the book says put sh1t loads of force on(I presume to settle the bearings in)then back them off and then pre load them to 25nm(?). Any suggestions how to put the preload on?
And finally ..the cover for the hub has a hex shaped plate held in place with six bolts...Milners list a paper gasket under it...is that what most people use?
As ever much appreciated the help given.Hope you lot are all well...maybe there's a wee bit of light at the end...Boris tonight!
Ta Nik

Does this kit have what you need? If it does and isn't the ones for your calipers then I believe they do them in their shop

In fact this set even says for 2 piston caliper ... thinking about it ...surely the rubber cover is the same for single and twin?

I've dealt with these in the past really helpful and excellent service from Patrick. They do the full service kits including pistons. pretty much everything brake related in fact.

Ive noticed one of the pairs of guide pins has the rubber sleeve at the end of it,the other pin is just plain steel. The pin that seized was the plain steel one which begs the question why not use pins with rubber sleeves for both pins?? Ta Nik

Funny that, I've noticed the opposite with the callipers I've rebuilt in the past, it's almost always the rubber that causes the problem, they are anti rattle devices, last time i did callipers I left the rubber off, haven't had problems with that yet, not to say I wont though.
This a good little vid about slider pins.
