Evening all
Can anyone tell me which years of L200 suffer badly with the dpf issue.... Mine is a 2014 and has had the regen done 3 times in 2 years ownership and is only at 3 because of lockdown... But thinking the time has come to move on to a newer model - if - if they don't suffer from the same issue...?
Many thanks 😁👍👌

DPFs came in mid 2012 for the L200
Are you doing mainly shorts trips? around town? or does it get a good blast?
Any vehicle with a DPF needs to get hot to burn the soot out of the DPF, 20 - 30 mins at over 2000rpm.
I only do short trips in my 2017 Kuga, so every 2 weeks i take it for a blast along the A50 about 20 miles to clean it out.
The L200 won't regen if the oil level rises above Max, and is classed as contaminated when it reaches the X.
The oil level rises due to failed regens normally caused by turning the engine off during one. The extra fuel added to make the truck run hotter then mixes with the oil.

Thanks Nick - mainly short trips but having to clean DPF every 6 months seems excessive? The fact that there is no warning light to tell me to give it a boost is also annoying - I only get the flashy light that requires the forced regen...
I had hoped that this issue was limited to my year and maybe another one either side but is something that affects all l200 s with a DPF...?
CHEERS for the reply much appreciated 👍 👌

Yes it affects all L200s with DPFs and in fact affects all vehicles with DPFs, DPFs do not get hot enough on short journeys to ' clean'

I'm wondering if there is a fault with mine then - my sister has had an x trail for 5 years with short runs and never had issues with the dpf... While i do mainly short runs I do some long runs as well, so can't think I'm the only one like that.
Maybe I need to go back to land rover.... 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ 😁

Thing is I love the l200 - wouldn't want to change it but thinking oil/derv long term can't have a good outcome...

You could have the DPF cut open and the guts removed, they also flash the ECU.
Not sure how much it costs thou
