I used something like that, but iirc you can get m10 in the holes

I'm sure it was M8's I used but I also remember that there was a fair bit of movement in the holes so it probably would take M10's.
I've done 2 decats now, first one was a doddle with a bit of heat, the one on my own was a pain in the arse as per usual the fantastic Japanese nuts and bolts sheared or disintegrated so I ended up cutting the bolt heads off with a grinder which was fiddly as access to the top bolt isn't great and I didn't want to damage the remaining parts of the exhaust.
If I was doing it again I think I would just take it to a fast fit place who could just burn the bolts off in 2 secs, be well worth the 15 to 20 quid bung.

use nice stainless jobbies with some copper grease too makes it a wee bit easier if you wanna get it off

thanks Greig. mine are quite badly corroded, the nuts have furred up and stuff... i've been dousing them in wd40 for a bit now so they may come off. if they dont, my original plan was to get the 1mm cutting disc out... lol. if all goes wrong i'll take it down to gates tyres.
and cheers for the pointer Lee.

Save yourself the trouble and take the grinder to it off in no time then re drill the cat bolt holes and you can then bolt it on if you have to . Don't cut the hanger in half like I did they unbolt !

Think you're right Greig... Gonna be easier to get an exhaust place to get it off! I tried with a 2ft bar and it still wasn't for shifting! :o

You'll be able to shear it with your bar if its gotta good grip of the nut, they usually round or disintegrate with rot, a grinder will get it off as long as your careful, but I'm sure if you went to a fast fit on a Sunday one of the lads will pop in on for a tenner or so, and they'll have all the bolts and the gas axe will have it off in seconds, make sure you get the cat back though their worth many scheckles
