Rocker box bolts ?

#1 by bart , Sat Feb 22, 2014 4:02 pm

Is there different kinds of rocker box bolts ?

I have fitted my new head, almost all back together and going well then i went to fit the rocker cover and the 2 bolts didnt seem to be grabbing so i took it off and tried the bolts in the head and they are too big ??

Any one else came across this when fitting a new head ?

More importantly can you get different bolts ?

Mine just went straight back in mate. Do you know the size and thread diameter of the bolts you need. Can you just get them from bapp??

If you can get a hold of billymadbiker, I think it was. He done me an alloy half seal with better tension bolts for my rocker, wasn't a drip since putting the kit in

I will have to try a few different bolts to get the size, but mine are way to big and dont come close..Bit baffling as the head is genuine mitsy so thought it would go straight in. Having said that the oil feed for the turbo had a different thread than mine so i had to put my old one in.

spoke to mitsubishi and they confirmed the head i have is genuine but said the bolts i have should fit ?

They did say the part number for the head is different to the part number for my vehicle though (slightly worrying) but it is for the 4d56 and the rocker bolts was the same on both heads !

Looks like my only option is a tap n die jobby..
