Hi all, been very keen on off-roadin in the past (mainly prepped Jeeps) .. then went back to "normal" cars, and now just put a deposit on a 59' plate 4Life, as it'll suit my lifestyle better than the hot hatch it replace's [banana3]
Quick question for the mo before joining up properly and annoying you all with newb drival lol ... first thing to change on my list is the skinny little steel wheels and tyres!!
Will I have any clearance issues on full lock etc if fitting 265-75-16's on stock suspension ?
and how accurate are the speedo's on these .. just aware of the false reading from the larger diameter tyres ? (for example, my current car reads 5mph faster than I'm going!)
Welcome aboard, Ando.
You shouldn't have any problems with these tyres on stock suspension - I have 265/70/17 which is, I believe, the same rolling circumference.
The effect on the speedo is to bring it bang on. Mine previously read around 8% optimistic but now matches what my satnav and these radars-by-the-side-of-the-road speed signs say.

Don't want to burst your bubble but does the 4life have an Easy Select gearbox? or a Super Select?

Ah right, I'll check when I collect it, but not planning on using it for froadin as such TBH mate, only going for BFG AT's so I have a good all round utility truck that'll cope with any surface I find myself on, as I live in a semi rural area, and when it snows ... it snows ;-)
nutha quicky ... lookin at the tyre/steel wheel combo sets online, and the wheels I want are either 7x16 0r 10x16 ... am I right in thinkin, that runnin 265's on a 10inch wide rim will be a bit too "sticky outy" on the 4Life ? (no flaired arches on this model remember)
Cheers ;-)
If the tyres stick out past the edge of the arch it is an MOT fail
