Keg, the EGR may look and seem to work OK but is the position sensor on it working correctly as it's that which tells the ECU that there's something wrong

what codes? electrical or mechanical failure of the EGR? if mechanical then remove and spotless clean in brake cleaner, thinners etc..... refit with a blank. if its electrical then check if the internal shaft has snapped if not then easyer to replace and blank off
