The Pajero fix up

#1 by Antonio , Sun Nov 16, 2014 11:59 am

Well as if the 'Rust Bucket' wasn't enough I have the Pajero to do a few jobs to as well.
With this thread I hope to outline the similarities to its big brother the L200, being in this case the one I have is the small 2.5 TD with K74/4D56 engine and not the 2.8TD.
It's already been useful to me as I needed front hubs for my L200 and they went straight on no probs, same shafts.(I keep the Paj at KORC for now)
So its J reg 1991- 2.5TD - SWB - 'Winter Pack'(twin battery set up)
First list of jobs:
New clutch kit - £80
New batteries - £114
Tyres and rims -have them ready to go on
Snorkle - ready to go on
Oh! And put hubs back on lol.

Hope this will get me started with it and see from there what else it will need

No @woody13 il be using it on road too. And if the rust bucket is anything to go by I think il be using the Paj more often lol.
Don't even know what super select is @Gezza Gezza? Is it a good thing and what is advantage if any?

I had a 91 (H reg) lwb that had the super select. Excellent system and the bonus of throwing it in 4wd on any surface

One of the big advantages is you can drive it on tarmac while it is in 4wd without the risk of diff wind up and you can even select 4wd while you are driving along if the road suddenly becomes slippy

Found an article on super select, can 4wd on tarmac due to having viscous coupling, and 4wd off road locking torque converter. Sounds like I picked up a good machine if all works well.

Take the body off and bin it, then tube the whole thing letting you stick any size tyre on you like

Make monster toy and tow it to Kirkton

One day I will build similar
