Getting wires into the cab

#1 by TwedL200 , Thu Feb 02, 2012 9:35 pm

Hello all.

Gonna attempt to fit my spotlights again tomorrow and need a little bit of advice on how to get the wires through into the cab. Should I drill through one of the plastic grommets or bring the wire in through the floor somewhere?

I'm planning on putting the switches on one of the blanks next to the handbrake so running them under the cab might be easier but I'm gonna fit a boost gauge too so going through the bulkhead may be the better option...?

All advice appreciated!

Stu x

theres a gromit on the ns of the engine bay that will let you drop the wire into the passenger footwell behind the kick panel you can route from there up under the back of the dash and then bring the wiring in under the center console.

best of luck.

use the big grommet where the main loom goes into the cab through the bulkhead, keep well to the side of the main loom, just pierce it with a piece of sharpened brake pipe or clothes hanger wire and pull through keep plenty of space from main loom so you dont catch any wires.

That gromit or use the fresh air vents at the back,

I just drilled my cab and made my own gromit for running wiring into cab, selaed up with silicon for water proofness.

I used the gromit on the NS when i fitted my Reverse Camera kit, plenty of room to get wires in. Plug for the cam was huge.
Tape the wires to a wire coat hanger, drop the glove box and remove the passanger side kick panel.
