So! from the allisport I/C and the EGR blanking , and the second nostril...... to a 13" slimline leccy fan on a manual switch fitted snug between the oil cooler and the main rad last night. using a fan supplied ages ago generously by Mr Audi NIck, and a work of art loom by leccymeister Lez, the volume of air sucked through the oil cooler then blown through the rad, when moving too slow for the VC to work (offroading or winching for instance) should increase the security of my trucks engine. what a hot blast vents out the second scoop when the fan is on. sweet- got the daylighters fixed tonight on another separate switch - schweet! Next is new shockers all round , with the new torsions should help with the seasickness

Interesting by product of the new leccy fan, seems to be an extra 50+ miles per tank of fuel. I assume the increased air flow is helping increase engine efficiency via lower operating temperature

the loom lez did for me was faboso! 10mins to put on - in fact it took more time to make a dogs brekky out of the switch site - the fan fitted between the oil cooler and the rad - almost like it was designed to be there I think Nick said the 13" fan came off an Iveco van? shifts a big volume of air and no mistake

Don't run these things too cold guys.
The dash temp gauge on a classic would normally sit pretty much bang on the 1/2 way mark. The 1/4 mark is too cold and you will be getting some serious engine wear if you runn at these temps. I would not be happy with an engine running anywhere much below 3/8 on the gauge.
The new shapes sit just over 1/2 way although the slightly higer temp they run is for emissions reasons so you could run just under 1/2 if you wanted.
there is nothing wrong with having lots of fans etc to stop the gauge going over 1/2 in tough conditions etc just fit some sort of control so it's not getting over cooled.
Pulling the viscous fan off and replacing with electric will save you a bit of fuel. Just be sure your electric fan is both capable and reliable.
There is a theory that the mass of the viscous unit helps to dampen engine vibrations though..
Also, if you guys are winching/running lights at idle a lot be carefull on the new shapes as they tend to choke themselves by blocking up the inlet tracts with sticky black sh*te if left sat at a tick over
