Hi There,
A while ago the glow plug relay circuit in my 93 L200 stopped working, the fuse was blown taking out the indicators/dashboard etc. I had an auto electrician out who told me the problem was the glow plug relay, which I sent off to be repaired, only to be told that it was not faulty. Got the auto electrician back when he then identified the fault as the solenoid (pic attached) which I duly swapped out and Hey Presto, It worked!! for 2 weeks…. I suspect the solenoid has now stopped working again but this can't be coincidence surely? when the fault occurs the relay box makes a demented clicking noise before blowing the fuse (see it here: https://vimeo.com/132909258), I have now tried a different relay in case it was at fault all along but the same thing happens.
I'm currently running the truck by by-passing the relay but its not a long term solution and its driving me bloody mental, suggestions would be very gratefully received!
thanks

take a look at the wiring diagrams mate does the glow plug relay turn off as it should or is it constantly on, could be the temperature sensor

i don't have a wiring diagram i'm afraid, is the temperature sensor part of the relay box itself or is it a separate module?

if it is clicking like you say it could be buggered can u unplug it from the loom and open the box and inspect the board for signs of damage
post some pics of the board both sides so we can see if you like

There is a common fault with the old glow plug ecu's on the pajeros. If you go on the poc forum there was a post about repairing it yourself. Can't remember fully but I think it was a blown capacitor or something like that. With it clicking like that tho it does sound like it's constantly switching on and off.

got the solenoid from ebay but it was working for a couple of weeks before the fault returned. The glow plug each light would go out when it was working but i don't know if this signifies the plugs cycle being ended or not. If the temp sensor was faulty would this mean that the solenoid was permanently engaged resulting in it burning out?

yes it could happen that way if the temp sensor is playing up as that is tied in with how long the duty cycle to the plugs is via the ecu and solenoid

could be an itemittiant fault with the temp sensor if the ecu has been changed and not at fault
u can check the temp sensor but for the age of it and for what they cost just swap it out

no such luck i'm afraid, spoke to a Mitsubushi parts guy who's says that if the temp sensor was faulty the gauge wouldn't work as there is only one sensor on my model and not a separate item feeding the relay ECU. back to square one!

Look at the wiring diagram they say different how do u think the glow plugs know if they need to cycle and how long for

could you point me towards a copy of the wiring diagram please, i'm a bit in the dark here! After poking about and following some wired I was thinking that the sensor on the top of the block at the front serviced the relay ECU, is this correct?
