The new W.I.P

#1 by Stick , Tue Mar 27, 2012 11:20 pm

Well peoples, decided to get the Pimp Wagon MOT'd, i have been slowly sorting loads of bits out with Mick T to get it ready for 'the BIG day', plan is for it to pass and maybe tax it for a month to get it out and about and see what reaction it gets.

Its not got an interior, seatbelts, carpet mats, fully refurbished brake system and working handbrake, all wiring tidied up, lights are in the process of being sorted and some spot lights too. Will post up a few pics over the weekend of the truck in it's new guise. For the first time in agaes its actually wearing the correct reg for the car asigned many moons ago by DVLA, Bodywork is being cleaned and tarted up abit too, wheels will be getting abit of a refurb/clean up aswell.

Lad at work has some spare alloys and half decent treaded tyre's too so may hoy them on for time being while i tart mine up,

Well, managed to purchased pre-face lift lights for the rocket, then had the great task of trying to make them fit the truck. Obviously abit harder than i though and i think its going to be awful to look at but never mind. Aslong as they work, are secure then i will be happy. Standard H4's aswell so my loom will work with them.

Got out the trusty tin plate and offered it up to the front end see what was what -

It wasn't to bad a fit but abit trimming saw it fit champion, then got the lights and marked out where they could go, cut the shape out the tin and then fitted light into hole -

Made it tidier by tin plating the lower part aswell so it looks all one, Keeps the front end as tidy as it can be, may opt to paint the tin plate black rather than silver to blend it into the back abit and may look abit tidier. Got passenger side done and the drivers side is ready to be cut out at work. The lights both work so thats another plus. Got some side repeaters from Lez to fit into the plate aswell then she's sorted for up-front lighting. The wings just need slotted again for the side repeaters to go into them as i modified them to be more open for room, the wiring is is sorted and ready so thats an easy job.

Inside the truck at minute is packed up again, need to clear it out and hoy it all in the 'rents shed for now -

Next on the list is to get the indicators working correctly again, re-plumb in the intercooler, adjust turbo to achieve some boooooooooooooost and then abit of a wheel refurb and spruce up

I removed the modified wing so i can cut the holes for the side repeaters, will do the other side aswell and then get the refitted and matt blacked -

Managed to pull a few dents out of the door, if you look hard enough you can still see a few but the main nasty 2 dents have gone -

Then checked the loom numbers for me drivers switch pack, i have the loom with the motor connector on (red?green) and the electric mirror switch but i need the small part that goes into the switches to operate windows -

Made a rear number plate holder and made a start on the wings, should be sorted for next weekend then have a go at getting her together. May remove snorkel and refit standard airbox in aswell, see how i feel.

Battery charged up nee bother, alt has died, it'll be removed and repaired as and when. Bummer!!

Bought a wing, the guy said the 'green one was in mint nick so i duly removed from said Scrapper. Got it for a nice cheap price in the end so i didnt really care as i knew it was going to be modified to suit. I cut the side repeater hole out and rubbed the wing down ready for abit primer. Sealered the indicator in so it does not come out, ever

Modified the new wing to suit the needs, cut the repeater hole in again and sealered up as before, top job done. Rubbed the wing down and blasted with abit primer before end of play today. Not a bad day considering it was busy at work and i was stowed off

So the job was left for end of play with a wing looking like this -

Alt removed ready for sending away to be repaired on Monday, battery fully charged and tests out ok, 70% healthy.

Both front wings modified and cut for the repeaters, both repeaters sealed in place and both rubbed down and primered then matt blacked. Just got to get them back between the cage and the truck's body. They look good enough like, not mint but then again, is the truck ...!?

Made a start on the other light today aswell before the rain made it hard to do much more, ended up leaving like this for the day -

The front panel when finished will be rubbed down and primered and matt blacked too. Just to blend it in abit and tidy it up. Getting there now like with the lighting, just indicators to mount up front then were ready for a indicator diag crash course.

Well, after another saga the truck is STILL with me I have resigned to the fact that it needs an MOT to go so having to crack on with it,

Going to put a side one full weekend to get it all sorted and then MOT'd, got all the parts here so just the time really,

There is always space for a lowered bobtail

also btw you still need to start a thread on your new toy
