Hi fellas
Any of you ever came across tappet adjustment being too tight Before adjusting?
The engine is cold, and running fine except a little tappety tick around 1500 rpm when coming off the throttle
The stated adjustment is 0.09 inlet and 0.14 exhaust. But I can just get a 0.08 between the exhaust camshaft heel and roller which should be 0.14.
Anyone ever had this?

Going to do them cold, haven't adjusted them yet as was unsure why they would be tighter than the standard tolerance, valve and valve seat wear is the only thing I can think of

Yes I had the manifold and rocker cover sitting in alloy wheel cleaner over night.
Something not right with the tappets inlet was 0.05 and 0.08 on exhaust.
Going to pop into Mitsubishi at the weekend for advice, the truck runs good just a little tappet noise now and again.

Yeah thats the very settings I got off the manual Nick. Strange how the gaps are closer adjusted than the recommended setting and running ok.

I recently did my tappets and also found quite a few tighter than the spec provided by Mitsubishi; maybe half of them IIRC. I've adjusted them all to the correct tolerance and she's running fine. Possibly a little more tappety sounding but nowt major.
