2006 L200 Animal Traction Control Lights Lit

#1 by ali_phillips01 ( Guest ) , Tue Jan 03, 2017 10:21 am

Hi All

Im looking for a bit of help with my partners l200 Animal 2006. For a while now (months) both the on off traction control light and the one next to it which would only normaly be lit when the wheels are slipping are both lit all of the time.

Ive looked online and this is usually accompanied by the Engine Management light and fault codes, This engine management light is not lit and ive used my reader and there are no trouble codes.

Interestingly when i plugged in my reader ( its a wireless one to my phone) and without the app even active the two lights went off. They returned a few minutes later, but this is repeatable and every time i plug in the odb2 wireless adapter even without the software running, these two lights go off.

Any one have any experience of this, or where to begin trouble shooting ?

Many Thanks

if the light was on there must be stored codes i would be trying a decent code reader first to obtain proper fault codes or you will be just stabbing in the dark

Ok ill see if i can get the codes read somewhere.

Just out of interest my reader usually works to read fault codes, do traction control errors get flagged or stored some where different ?

the engine management light never comes on when this issue is present so i figured that was why there was no fault codes

Thanks

My guess is squib ring behind the steering wheel.
The 2 fault lights are normally ABS and TC.

I think the second light is asc (stability control light) .
I know mine had 2 lights that look very similar .
With traction control on if I spin the wheels the tc light flashes .
If I turn tc off and spin the wheels it's fine in a straight line , but if the truck starts going sideways the asc light flashes and power adjusts to level it up again .

Did you have any joy in finding the eventual fault? My 2007 model occasionally gets both lights coming on. There seems to be a severe lack of power too. When the lights do come on, I switch the engine off for 30 secs and they disappear for a while. Does anyone have any ideas? I am not sure if the lack of power has anything to do with these lights coming on interminantly.

Thanks,

Chris

The lack of power is the truck going into ' Limp ' Mode ... and squib ring is usual fault ... have you had the codes read?
