Luke, the two sides of the turbo are only linked with the shaft if the impeller and the turbine... Blown fan on the exhaust side and the Blowing Fan on the intake side, there is no link via gass through the turbo, bits cannot get through mate.

whilst on topic with gauges, my turbo boost gauge from the same manufacturer has a plastic tube with a "T" piece - which line is it supposed to break into, please ?

Geoff, just stick the T Piece into the boost sensor line. ( boost sensor, little unit fixed to the back of the intercooler ).
It will then measure Manifold pressure and you will be able to see exactly what is at the manifold Re boost.

Excellent. So worst case scenario all I break is my turbo if this cheap chinese probe breaks?

I'm thinking it doesn't look that bad a quality and if the turbo breaks well it's due for upgrade anyway.

Yes mate, just as a pointer here, I have fitted around 350 temp senders into exhaust systems and never had one break yet, as it goes, never had one fail either.

I had the same thought. Especially since Diesels run cooler than petrols. Well, that was my hope lets say. Just I had read a warning about cheaper probes. But on the basis of what you're saying I think I am going to go ahead and fit it without buying another probe.

you know you will probably find the expensive ones are made in the same factory as the cheapies, only the nice box being the difference

seen similar loads of times, most memorable was the led lighting over my marine tank, a guy i know is into import and export lighting, also a marine fishkeeper, so he rings me from china to say he has an led lighting system i may be interested in, so a month later hes home, couple these light bars in his grubby mits, so after seeing and testing them i ask the question - how much, so obviously the question of how many comes up, £40 each or £28.95 if i take ten, so i orders 20 and pays 25 each at that number, a month later i have mine mounted and working, does some reports on them regarding lumens, effects on corals etc etc, does a few forum reports and alls well, he rings me about three months later to ask what i thought, excellent was the reply, i now have lighting consuming 560 watts as opposed to 1400, so he tells me to go look at some led lighting hes spotted that i may be interested in, goes to the web link and theres the same lights at £135 per bar !!!!!, ok mine came in plain white boxes, no instructions ( how hard is it to put a plug in a wall and pushfit a plug and socket) loverly printed box with a brand name, certainly not £110 quids worth of difference, so i bell him, obviously i have to ask whats the difference, his reply, i have two cups of coffee you can purchase, one a quid the others a tenner, cheap one comes in a plain cheap white mug and will be served my 50 year old wife, more expensive ones in a nice colourfull mug and served by my secretary whos young, blonde and wears low cut tops, the coffee comes out of the same jar

Purchased Werbung: this so that I can carry on with more aggressive engine mods in a safe manner. Measurements indicate it will go into the instrument binnacle on the dash. So with that in mind I think I'll lose the tilt gauge and fit the egt in it's place. Was going to do the intercooler next but I might just bump that down the list and go straight for the water injection.

Yoda, did the 52mm gauge fit into the hole left by the tilt gauge?
I wanna replace my one with a boost gauge

Haven't fitted it yet but it will. 52mm is a standard size. You'll see that most gauges are 52mm. If you measure the outside gauges in the binnacle you'll see they are 52mm. Speak to Lez, he has changed his gauges I think. I'm going to fit a boost gauge too. But as I want to keep my battery volt gauge I'm going to have to mount it somewhere else.

the incline gauge is useless any way!

I agree. Once you've lifted your truck or widened it's stance the tilt metre wouldn't be relevant anyway.

Luke, if you need to use the slot then just fit an aftermarket voltmeter, they are only 10mm x 20mm blue backlight, around £10

Cool I like those. SO now I know what I'm looking for, if I had boost and EGT in the binnacle where do you think is a neat place to put the volt meter? It's difficult in these trucks to find professional looking places for things. My veg controller is still in a phone holder temporarily - can't decide where to put it.
