Loads of places, I'll have a look round mine on the way home tomoz and see if I can come up with a good spot, I have a silver dash panel, and a few sets of clocks that can be 'modified' could fit a volt meter inside one for ya..

Hmmm sounds interesting! PM me with a price for the silver dash panel and fitted meter. just bear in mind where my veg over ride switch is.

The panel hole for the meter is 20 x 10.................. so easy to cut and file, most meters have a bezel on them so slight errors are covered, I used to decide what I wanted to do and buy a cheap plastic chopping board, used it for test holes and practice.....generally cost £1 from a cheepie shop... easy for you to do yourself and the two wires just connect into the old plug for the binnacle. I can sort the connections for you.

Lez how am I supposed to fit this probe? Directions say weld it or use a tap. Obviously I don't have a welder so if I drill and tap it should I be using anything else to keep it in there? Like stud lock?

stud lock prob wont take the temps, your up in the melt solder range, may be worth going to a plumb center, explaining that you need to seal a thread thats going to be hitting the 800f range and see what they offer, chances are though the sensor is a taper thread and metric- also known as a gas tap thread

Not really any difference Bas, just that the fitting has a very slight taper on the threads so as to get a really good seal and tightness.
I can buy silicone sealant with a 500 degree temp range............. get it from BealUK I know this is almost at it's range, or would 'Plumbers mate' be better as it set hard.

plumbers mate or boss white should be ok, thing is it should soon carbon up on the threads anyway

the destructions should say what the thread is ??? taps wise i have a single 1/8npt27 from my thread chasers and a starter and also the second cut 1/8bsp28 from my decent tap and die set, if either are correct and if you need them i will send them up to you on a replace if you break them lend

gauges in and working ! egt probe in about 2" after the turbo cos it was the only accessible spot (EGR still on) boost gauge is crap - it got a rattle on spool up - hope it settles down , but the EGT is running at idle showing 200`C goes up to 400`C under heavy acceleration and cruises at 50mph at 260`C thats with the hydro on - I tried turning it off and the needle did appear to rise but like the hydro - it`ll take a while of testing me thinks - pics later tonight

Thats pretty low actually, nowhere near any 'danger' level for the engine.

Geoff, that is around the same temps as I got with the LLEZ exausts..... ours was at the exhaust but with the downpipe well lagged.

If you can find a small plastic pot with an airtight lid, just T it into the line from the Manifold pressure sensor and it will stop the 'rattle; , acting as a kind of baffle for the pressure surges.

Ok good stuff. You're after the turbo though so I think I'm right in saying we lose about 100degrees celsius through the turbo. Anyone confirm that? So we can roughly calculate your actual EGT's from this.

More important for now would be to compare EGT's with the hydro off and then on in the same driving circumstances. Weather, road, etc etc...
If as you indicate they do appear to go DOWN... then that's VERY good. Precise EGT's we work out later.
