Went in ok according to Alan.Timing is now spot on as the old wheel had defo slipped.Went to bed last night dreaming about my truck!F....ng alternator went today .Alan and other members came to my rescue finally got one from Europarts £170 F....ng 8mm bolt hole not 10mm as old one so it's going to engineers in morn to get drilled out.Just another day for L200! :-)We also made a start on the body lift ,we kept off the bottom of the radiator cover!!!Yee Haa!!! Any time mate, bloody typical for the alternator to go at the same time though.

Alternator from Euro parts was 75 amp as per my old one but one problem one set of holes was 8 mm not 10 mm so a bit of drilling was done today .Alternator now fitted and back on the road.Heading up to Lairg this week end so the truck will be getting a good run an fingers crossed no more probs.Price for alternator £170 total no exchange either .

AA mechanic whilst checking truck yesterday on his computer came up with another thing to check on early 2000 trucks The glow plug relay?sounds strange but according to him a fault in that relay can give you the impression the fault is the alternator!Worth knowing!

Rab, I'll have a nose at the wiring diagram and see if I can see a reason for that.
