That's a pretty common failure from what I've read, but not sure it stops people revving past 2k...? would have thought you can only have your symptoms from a catastrophic failure between two cylinders or water getting into a cylinder (this would chuck out a load of steam, which ain't happening). I'm still going with broken turbo, your one has a waste gate which might have failed, though I'm not familiar with that system. how about other more simple things, like stuck throttle butterfly (not sure if you one though), maybe some engine bay pics might be handy? Stick your video up though for sure - record the exhaust while it's struggling too.

No I didn't. The
Engine probably hadn't done 1000 miles since last service but the mot came round so I thought I'd do oil fuel and air filter anyways. I can see I'll end up doing both turbo and pump but I think turbo may be simpler to start with. My thoughts are to send it off and have it checked and repaired. Milner do one for about 400 and e bay about 200 but are the cheap ones going to hack it I wonder? If it's sent off it'll be hopefully done right and I'll know if it was faulty. May well fix the fault and I can treat it to new manifold gaskets etc . Pump is trickier as can't find a reasonable priced recon and second hands a gamble. I saw them once on euro parts 2000 but outa stock . Even with there flash sales it's out of the question. I'll work on the video clip first tho see what u all think

tbh mate if you're that happy throwing money like that at your truck, why not take it to a decent diesel specialist and find out for sure what is wrong with it? wev'e tried but there is only so much you can do over the net... save yourself some money...

I took apart a fuel filter header recently and it was filled with the most vile substance I have encountered since my dog ate his own shit and then vomited it back up on the back seat of my mums car.

So far the local diesel specialists all say it's too old to diagnose as it doesn't have the option to code read. It's funny really as I'm always hearing my cars are too new and complicated etc. Give them one that ain't and they're stuffed however my main dealers seemed really helpful when I bought the genuine fuel filter so maybe a few quid spent there would be a good idea. Someone may have worked on them before and point me in right direction . I'll let u know when it's fixed and I'll post the video if I can and that way it'll maybe help someone if they have the same problem themselves

What did the gold fleck indicate? I've emptied old Ford filters and checked with a magnet for signs of the pump disintegrating on me. Usually by then it's too late but at least u know what has to be done

gold fleck tells me the pump is breaking down due to running too much veg oil through the thing
