Thanks for the welcome.
I bought a 63 plate Warrior last week mainly to transport the dogs around previously owned a (probably not heard of them) Great Wall Steed (what a pile of !!!!!!) L200 sooo much better.
Currently looking to upgrade the head unit to a double din unit to have a reversing camera and move the info panel lower down like the Barbarian. Any advice gratefully received (a source for the lower housing for the info panel to go in would be good)
Thanks
Paul

when you get upgraded Paul, I have done a full how to with pictures of how to fit a lower info screen ---------> How to :- Remove top dash and fit an info screen on a new shape
also I've got the mitsubishi instructions uploaded into my gallery should you need them too
you'll have to look out for the lower screen as the one that's usually up top wont fit unless you do some serious customizing

Just tried the link krutly and it just throws up an error (not too good on computers). How do I look at your gallery? I fI got the lower surround off a barbarian would the info panel fit in that or would I be better trying to get both the surround and info panel from a barbarian.
I've got an ex barbarian upper console coming to fit the double din unit in don't want to loose the info panel.
Thanks for your help
Paul

you'll be able to see the link when you're upgraded bud, you've done nothing wrong it just wont open when your username is green
you may be able to see the pics in my gallery though , try this ----------> g804-Info-display-intructions-and-pictures.html
the info screens come up on ebay from time to time
last one was around 2 or 3 weeks ago and sold for 130 quid (I paid 150 for mine)
if I know you're after one then I'll send you a link or tag you in our ebay thread next time I spot on for sale
you can get them direct from mitsubishi but at just short of 400 quid they aint cheap, Part number for screen is SP036827

OK I'll look forward to being upgraded. Looked at your pictures seems not to be too difficult with the right parts.
See on ebay there are some relocation kits for doing this, are they any good? Going for about £60 as I've already got the actual panel seems logical to think of this first.
Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul.. yep we've heard of the great walls steed , and have often wondered what they would be like. What were the main issues with it?

I owned mine from new bought it in 2013. Main issues with them for me was :-
Dealers few and far between 2 dealers I used stopped selling or servicing them, servicing costs expensive.
Parts are difficult to source unless you go to the dealers (and the cost that entails).
Woefully underpowered unless you rev the knackers off it and mine seemed to start to disintegrate around me clutch going, driveshafts failing, head gaskets had blown, corrosion both body panels and underneath going to be an issue, wearing parts didn't last long, it went through brake pads like they went out of fashion and all it ever towed was my caravan about 10 times.
If you are looking for a "disposable" truck that's fine but I wouldn't get a new one (if they are still available) and I definitely would avoid a second hand one like the plague.

Not seen the relocation kits Paul, do you have an ebay item number so I can have a look ?
interesting info on the great wall steed
so as long as you avoid buying new or used then you should be OK then
I remember a thread on here from donkeys years ago discussing them and the general consensus was that they were too good to be true and the biggest fear was the resale/depreciation

Not sure you can actually buy new ones now (no Euro6 engines) so only second hand. You would be right depreciated like a lead weight!!!
The relocation kit is on ebay if you search for Display-Relocation-Panel-For-Mitsubishi-L200-2012-Onwards
Let me know what you think
Thanks

avoid anything that's had a 'recon' engine as they're know to not last long
if you can get one that's had NO engine work done and doesn't overheat then you could be on to a winner
anything that's just had a head gasket done on would make me question why it went in the first place and if it's been repaired properly
my 4life didn't have ABS or aircon
that said they never went wrong either

you're never going to work out the difference in the models
it's been tried in the past and we've all failed
but generally ........
4work is lowest spec, windy windows, steel wheels that kind of thing
4life next spec up, elec windows, alloys, arches
warrioir next up again, silver dash, tinted windows, more often than not silver or black
animal is top with power upgrade,18inch alloys,ABS,AC
trojan quite often just before changeover of shape to newer model
it's rare to find 2 trucks of the same spec. My 4life didn't have AC or ABS where others did, even older ones
some animals will have a limited slip diff while others have a diff lock, some 18inch alloys, others 16inch
some warriors will have leather while others not
the style of alloys will vary as will the grille and paint job with year
Trojans were quite often stock left over when they were producing a newer shape so it seems they randomly put stuff on these to shift them
Truckmonkeygarage seems OK from what I've looked at online
had a look at his previous on ebay too
he's sold a few power upgrades in the past so if it's an animal you're looking at get him to show you the little silver box behind the kick plate in the passenger footwell as he'll no doubt know already.
my guess would be that if he's currently sorting the engine and bodywork out then he's bought it cheap and is selling for a good profit (that's how the world turns)
make sure you get a guarantee for the engine work just to cover yourself so if it overheats you can take it back to get it fixed
my latest truck was from a garage and they gave me 6 months warranty so if he trusts his work (and reputation) then a warranty shouldn't cost him anything
any other questions you may have @Yuley1 just shout
weak points on a classic is the engine and (as they get older) rust on the chassis
alas it's not uncommon to hear of a new member buying a truck with problems as the previous owner has got rid rather than spend the money to sort them out
