Meet TRIGGER the Triton and his rebuild thread

#1 by audiobull , Sat Dec 01, 2012 5:49 pm

Ok where do i start...... im a sucker for a project and i do miss taking my old suzuki sj offroad, a nice family day out with the kids.
So ive now got this to keep me occupied. i may have to join the darkside to to gather all the info i can on this v6.
Idea is to get the chassis cleaned up and create an offroad monster...... however it will still be road legal to allow me to drive to meets and coarses.
steve, lez and others will have me asking for things soon
to start with it needs a gearbox so im going to try and source one from a shogun or challenger as the l200 triton boxes seem to be rare as...... (any help or suggestions appreciated)
it seems to be missing something in the engine bay..... what is it? fuse box?

anyway questions will be asked in separate threads in correct places.......... what do you all think?????

Hope this doesn't make things harder for you Jay seeing this. This was the Triton you asked about the tank from. Still, at least it's going to be brought back from the brink now!

Oh by the way ben the GTO forums are the best place for help with the V6. The dark side have nothing. The engine code is 6G72. Search that code and you'll find help.

Same engine mate. But it's the GTO boys who really know those engines inside out. Granted you aren't likely to want the same horsepower that they are getting from them. But they will be able to tell you where best to get things like rebuild kits, gaskets etc. Plus I have a mind they will be able to help you with the manual gearbox you want to fit.

But absolutely no harm checking www.pocuk.com to see what they can offer. It is at least a free forum with massive membership.

Good question, I can't remember. A quick google search would reveal what was fitted to that year of L200. Or pop a rocker cover off.....

had a look in the workshop manual. it seems to be 24valve. i cant see a dizzy cap either so must be coil pack which on the paj OC they say 12v had a dizzy and 24v has coil packs. What i would really like to know is what the standard gearbox model code is for the l200 triton? loads selling gearboxs but none give the model number such as f4a42 etc etc. workshop manual doesnt tell me which one is fitted. and i dont have the original gearbox with the vehicle. it was an auto
